About Me
Guiding Individuals and Families Toward Healing and Growth
Kelly Varhola, M.A. Licensed Professional Counselor

Hello! I’m Kelly
In my journey as a helper, I am deeply grateful for the gift of empathy that God has bestowed upon me. With a background as an elementary and middle school teacher and Dyslexia specialist, my lifelong goal has been to inspire strength and resilience in others. My transition into the counseling field was a natural extension of that calling, blending my passion for empowering others with a deep commitment to supporting families through life’s transitions and challenges. I have a strong belief in the power of relationship-building within the family, and I strive to help strengthen those connections through the therapeutic process.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of North Texas and a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health and Professional School Counseling from Midwestern State University. I previously served as an elementary school counselor and now devote my time fully to private practice, where I continue to walk alongside individuals and families on their paths to healing and growth.
Mom-Life and Beyond
As a mother, I understand that life is a wild adventure! My husband, Erik, and I are kept on our toes by our two boys, Liam (13) and Eli (10).
They would be the first to tell you I am not the perfect mom. I yell more than I’d like, burn everything I cook, and juggle it all imperfectly. Isn’t that what motherhood is all about? My heart is full when I’m with my family, through both the joyful moments and the challenges.
I’m proud to be a football mom who enjoys fishing, watching movies, and riding bikes with my family! When I can carve out a little “me” time between mom duties and my career, I love to listen to music, sing, read, and Netflix.
With a heart brimming with compassion, my own experiences as a mother fuel my deep empathy for the struggles families face. By embracing your stories and experiences, I strive to create a safe space where your child can feel heard, seen, and validated.
Expertise
My expertise lies in working with children, adolescents, and adults who deal with anxiety, depression, ADHD, or trauma. Whether utilizing play therapy with young children or engaging in meaningful therapeutic work with adolescents and adults, I firmly believe in the effectiveness of a tailored therapeutic approach for individuals of all ages.
I encourage you to explore the information provided on two of my primary approaches: Play Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I strive to create a safe relationship where individuals can express their thoughts, emotions, and experiences. Together, we will explore feelings, build resilience, develop coping skills, and promote healing.
