Frequently Asked Questions

Here to help with questions..
How do I make an appointment?

Call or text me at 817-565-5871 to set a 15-minute free consultation.

What will the first session be like?

For children, the therapeutic process begins with a parent consultation, during which I meet with you without your child. This initial meeting allows me to gain a deeper understanding of your child’s background, your concerns, and to help you prepare them for therapy. For adolescents and adults, the process is more individualized and begins with a direct session to explore their unique needs and goals for therapy. If you are a parent of a young child or an adult client who is a caregiver, please arrange for childcare during your appointment to ensure we have uninterrupted time to focus on your concerns and goals for therapy.

How does it work? How often and when do we meet?

Therapy is a collaborative process tailored to each individual’s needs. For children, sessions include play-based interventions and may also involve periodic parent meetings to support progress at home. For teens and adults, sessions focus on exploring thoughts, emotions, and coping strategies. Typically, we meet once a week to maintain consistency and build momentum, though frequency can be adjusted based on your specific goals and circumstances. Together, we will regularly assess progress and make adjustments to the approach as needed.

What is your cancellation policy?

To respect both your time and mine, I kindly ask for at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice, as well as missed appointments without notice, will be charged the full session fee. This policy helps ensure availability for all clients and supports consistency in the therapeutic process.

Is telehealth an option?

Video sessions are available for individuals aged 10 and older, providing a flexible and convenient way to engage in meaningful therapy from a remote setting. However, play therapy requires an in-person environment to be most effective. Therefore, for children under 10, in-person sessions are the recommended and exclusive option to ensure the best therapeutic outcomes.

Are you a Christian Counselor?

As a Christian, I welcome individuals from all faith backgrounds—including those without religious beliefs—with respect and openness. I will never impose my personal views, and any discussion of spiritual or religious topics will be based entirely on your comfort and preferences. Your healing journey is guided by your unique values and goals.

Have you ever had experience with counseling as a client?

As a parent of children who have received counseling—and through my own experience in individual counseling—I deeply understand the uncertainty and concern that can come with seeking support. Taking that first step isn’t always easy, but I truly believe you’ll one day look back and see the meaningful, positive impact counseling can have—both for you and your child.
